American Heart Association provides blood pressure kits to Dorn VA Medical Center with support from Boyer Construction

The American Heart Association, committed to creating a world of healthier lives for all, is proud to announce the donation of blood pressure kits to the Dorn VA Medical Center. These kits will be distributed to veterans receiving care at the facility, enabling them to regularly monitor their blood pressure, a crucial step in preventing and managing heart disease.

This donation, made possible by support from Boyer Construction, is part of an ongoing effort to enhance the health and well-being of South Carolina veterans. It raises awareness of heart health while supporting their medical needs.

“We are proud to support the American Heart Association and the Dorn VA Medical Center to provide this vital resource to our veterans,” said Brian Boyer, president of Boyer Construction. “Supporting the health and well-being of veterans is a cornerstone of our commitment to the community. We hope this donation makes a meaningful difference in the lives of those who have served our country.”

The American Heart Association has been a leader in promoting heart health education, advocacy, and research for more than 100 years. With millions of Americans suffering from high blood pressure and heart disease, this donation aligns with the Association’s mission to improve heart health for everyone.

“We are incredibly grateful to Boyer Construction for their generous support,” said Lizzie Tankersley, executive director of the American Heart Association, Midlands. “This donation will help our veterans monitor their blood pressure and manage their heart health more effectively. Preventive care is essential, and this initiative marks a significant step in supporting our veterans’ health needs.”

The American Heart Association recommends that individuals diagnosed with high blood pressure regularly monitor their blood pressure levels. By keeping track of your numbers, you can detect any changes and identify patterns that may emerge. Monitoring your blood pressure over time also provides valuable insight into the effectiveness of any lifestyle changes you’ve made. Additionally, consistent tracking helps healthcare professionals assess how well treatments are working, ensuring better management of your heart health.
