Blue Cross Blue Shield Announces New VP of Major Group Marketing

COLUMBIA, SC – November 21, 2007 – Blue Cross Blue Shield is pleased to announce the promotion of Mike Harris to Vice President, Major Group Marketing effective October 8, 2007.

Mike is a long-term Blue Cross employee having joined the company in 1993 as account executive in the Charleston Regional Office. While in that position, Mike was recognized as sales representative of the year in 1995, 1997 and 1998. He was also recognized as PAI Sales representative of the year in 2003 as well as the Companion Life sales representative of the year in 1998 and 1999.

Mike was promoted to Director of the Columbia Regional Office in 2004 where his office won the 2005 and 2006 regional office of the year award.

Prior to joining Blue Cross, Mike spent 7 years with the Travelers Insurance Company.

In his new position, Mike will be responsible for the marketing of all new fully insured, Administrative Services Only and stop loss business in the 50+ group segment. In addition he will be responsible for retention of existing business. Lastly he will also have responsibility to grow our current association blocks of business.

Mike received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management with a minor in Marketing from the University of North Carolina in 1988. He earned his Health Insurance Associate designation in 2003 and is active in Health Underwriters and the State Chamber of Commerce.
