BlueCross BlueShield Appoints New Marketing Executives

COLUMBIA, S.C. – October 31, 2007 – BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina announces the promotions of Greg Fischer to vice president and Irving Albrecht to assistant vice president for the company’s small group and individual insurance marketing and sales.

Fischer will oversee marketing, sales, compliance, research and communication for the Group and Individual unit. He formerly was president of TCC of South Carolina, a full-service, third-party administrator located in Charleston, S.C.

Prior to TCC, Fischer worked in management at BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina in Columbia for 10 years, most recently as assistant vice president of operations and information systems for a separate third-party administrator, where he contributed to the company’s record growth. Fischer also has been a manager of financial operations for Palmetto GBA, another BlueCross subsidiary. Before moving to South Carolina from Germany in 1994, he managed an accounting office for the U.S. government.

Fischer holds a master’s degree in business administration from Webster University and a bachelor’s degree in management from the University of Maryland. He is a Fellow in the Academy for Healthcare Management (FAHM), an associate in reinsurance administration and customer service through the Life Office Management Associations (LOMA), and is a certified facilitator through Achieve Global, as well as a U.S. Air Force veteran.

Albrecht will oversee marketing for the company’s Medicare Advantage products, direct response product marketing and new market development. He began his career with BlueCross BlueShield in 1994 as a director for marketing and product development. He holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing and a master’s degree in business administration, both from the University of New Orleans. He has more than 32 years of insurance sales and marketing experience and holds designations as a Fellow in both the Academy for Healthcare Management and the Life Management Institute (FLMI), and is a Certified Flexible Compensation Instructor (CFCI).
