BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina announces executive leadership promotions

Renee McCormick, Lori Hair and Jill Davis earn promotions 

BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina, one of the largest employers in the state, has announced several executive level leadership promotions. Renee McCormick has been named executive vice president and chief information officer; Lori Hair has been promoted to executive vice president and chief financial officer; and Jill Davis has been named executive vice president — Strategic and Diversified Businesses.

According to David Pankau, president and chief executive officer of BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina, the demonstrated leadership of these professionals is key to the company’s strategic growth. “We believe strongly in the people who make up our organization. I am proud to announce the promotions of several individuals who have been critical to making our organization the strong one that it is. The experience and expertise that Renee, Lori and Jill bring to our company — and their tireless drive towards excellence — will move our organization forward in a strategic manner.”

Renee McCormick, Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer (CIO): McCormick is a 35-year veteran of BlueCross having started as a programmer in Commercial Systems. Today, she oversees the information system division and its more than 2,200 employees. McCormick’s roles at BlueCross have included leading  Commercial Applications, Project Management, Systems Support, Client Management, Technology Support Center and all the Infrastructure areas within I/S. A graduate of the University of South Carolina, she brings a wealth of talent and a deep understanding of the company’s information systems to her role. “Technology is more complicated and more important than ever before in our industry. We must continue our tradition of operational excellence for the organization to grow in a thoughtful manner,” said McCormick.

Lori Hair, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO): Hair will assume responsibility for the organization’s overall financial functions and the General Services division. Hair began her career at BlueCross 14 years ago as a Financial Reporting director in the Controllers division after working with Deloitte on assignments throughout the Southeast. She continued to lead the Controllers division and Financial Reporting while assuming leadership responsibility for Corporate Finance. She most recently expanded her leadership role to include the Corporate Treasury department. Hair is a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a BS degree in Business Administration and a Master of Accountancy. “The financial strength of our organization is a key driver in our business success. Having a long-range, measured and tested approach to ensuring the financial health of our business is critical to our growth,” said Hair.

Jill Davis, Executive Vice President — Strategic and Diversified Businesses: Davis will expand her leadership role by assuming full responsibility for the Companion Life organization. Davis is a 25-year veteran of BlueCross having started as an Information Systems engineer. Jill’s responsibilities include supporting enterprise strategic objectives, process improvement and leadership initiatives. She also oversees corporate marketing communications and UCI Medical Affiliates. Davis graduated from Rutgers University and holds an MBA from the University of Virginia. “The operational and financial success of our company is supported through the various divisions and subsidiaries which make up BlueCross. When we all perform at our peak, we can position the entire organization to be successful,” said Davis.
