Bluestein, Nichols, Thompson, and Delgado Welcomes New Associate, J. Clarke Newton

COLUMBIA, SC – May 16, 2013 – Bluestein, Nichols, Thompson, and Delgado, LLC (BNTD) announced J. Clarke Newton has joined the team as an associate. His practice will focus on litigation.

For the past several years, Newton worked as an Assistant Public Defender for Richland County, defending citizens accused of violent crimes. He represented approximately 1,200 clients over three years and advocated in more than 20 jury trials. 

“We are thrilled to add Clarke to our litigation team,” said Marti Bluestein, founding partner. “His experience protecting the rights of individuals as a public defender will be invaluable to our clients, who have come to depend on our personal service and unwavering commitment to advocating for them.”

Newton is a 2009 graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law, where he served as a peer mentor for first-year students, participated in the Student Bar Association and Phi Delta Phi, and studied abroad in London, England. As he pursued his law degree, Newton served as a law clerk in the Richland County Public Defenders Office and in the South Carolina Office of the Attorney General. Newton also holds a Bachelors degree in Political Science from the University of Florida.
