May 1, 2015

COLUMBIA, SC – The University of South Carolina School of Law Alumni Council has honored Blake Hewitt of Bluestein, Nichols, Thompson & Delgado (BNTD) with a 2015 Silver Compleat Lawyer Award at its annual awards dinner on Thursday, April 30, on the University of South Carolina campus.

The Compleat Lawyer Award recognizes alumni for outstanding civic and professional accomplishments. Hewitt was recognized for his significant contributions to the legal profession and for exemplifying the highest standards of professional competence, ethics and integrity. The awards are categorized by attorneys’ years in practice; Hewitt received a Silver award, which is presented to attorneys with fifteen or fewer years in practice.

The selection committee included the Chief Justice of the South Carolina Supreme Court, the Chief Judge of the South Carolina Court of Appeals, the President of the South Carolina Bar, The Co-Chair of the University of South Carolina School of Law Alumni Council and the Dean of the University of South Carolina School of Law.

“This recognition for Blake is well-deserved,” said John Nichols, partner. “He is a valuable member of our firm as well as the community and we are very pleased that the Law School is honoring him for his professional and civic accomplishments.”

Hewitt focuses his practice at BNTD in appellate litigation. He is an active member of the Injured Workers’ Association and serves as Chairman of the Judicial Affairs committee and has also served on the Board of Governors for the Young Lawyers’ Division (YLD) Foundation, which coordinates pro bono community and general legal services.

He is a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law.
