Bobbitt to Deliver New Lexington Base for Mead & Hunt

June 18, 2015

LEXINGTON, SC – Bobbitt Design Build recently began construction on the 13,000-square-foot Lexington, S.C., office for Mead & Hunt – a national architectural and engineering firm serving numerous markets including transportation, aviation, water, education, state and local government, federal and military. The office, located at 878 South Lake Drive in Lexington, will utilize the aesthetics and layout established for the Middleton, Wisconsin office, serving as the example for future offices across the country.

Mead & Hunt has seen tremendous growth throughout the nation over the past several decades including the Lexington area prompting a need for a larger Lexington facility that meets current requirements and also provides capacity for future growth. Inviting developers to bid on the project, the company ultimately selected Columbia developer A.L. Saad and Bobbitt Design Build team, based on quality and experience.

“We are excited for the opportunity to work with Mead & Hunt to deliver their new South Carolina Headquarters. We are also very pleased to have partnered with Bobbitt Design Build yet again,” says Ryan Maltba of A.L. Saad & Companies. “Their consistent performance and tireless commitment to getting the job done right has left little doubt that our efforts will yield a successful product that meets and exceeds client expectations.”

Working with the owner and tenant through the build-to-suit design-build process, Bobbitt and architect Dale Marshall from Architrave, LLC, are rising to Mead & Hunt’s high expectations, dedicating thoughtful time and energy to every detail. The building’s exterior will feature a combination of brick, ribbon windows and ALUCOBOND® composite metal panels to create a modern exterior façade.

The interior will also evoke a contemporary feel by incorporating floating cloud ceilings, LED lighting and an open office concept. Much of the electrical wiring will run under slab to eliminate power poles in open office areas. The office will include exposed building systems such as structural frame, ductwork, plumbing and electrical conduit.
