Boku Kitchen and Saloon celebrates spring with new Cherry Blossom Month in March

February 28, 2023

A bloom-inspired cocktail and dessert menu and three special events accompany the springtime pop-up

To celebrate spring and all that blossoms, Boku Kitchen and Saloon is hosting a cherry blossom pop-up inside the restaurant throughout March. Special bloom-inspired cocktails and desserts will adorn the menu for one month, featuring bright fruits like cherries, strawberries and raspberries. In addition to the special menu and floral installation, Boku will host three events to celebrate the inaugural Cherry Blossom Month — a launch party, #BokuBlossoms Brunch and Flavors in Bloom, a sake-pairing dinner.

Cherry Blossom Month at Boku is inspired by the Japanese tradition of Hanami, which means “flower viewing.” This is a time when many across the world take time to enjoy and appreciate the beauty of cherry blossoms. A floral installation by local florist Hola Lola Floral Co. will bring the energy of Hanami to Boku.

“We are always looking for new ways to bring unique and fun experiences to Boku. Cherry Blossom Month will provide multiple opportunities for guests to soak in the joy of spring while, most importantly, having a great time,” says Mike Duganier, Boku owner and president of All In Hospitality, the powerhouse behind Publico Five Points and Publico BullStreet. “Our team thrives when we infuse creative energy into the dining experience, and we can’t wait to share this floral pop-up with guests.”

The restaurant and bar, located in the Congaree Vista District, serves Pan-Asian-inspired cuisine. Cherry Blossom Month at Boku will embody a vibrant atmosphere that encourages a festive dining experience, especially at each special event.

Cherry Blossom Month Launch Party — Mon., March 6, 5:30-8:30 p.m.

Be of the first to experience the cherry blossom installation and taste the limited specialty cocktails along with local DJ Madi Jo, food and drink specials and giveaways. The event takes place on Maki Monday — a weekly special that features $5 open-faced temaki handrolls, $7 sushi donuts, $4 sake bombs and all sake half-priced. Every hour, one randomly selected guest will be awarded a $25 gift certificate. Don’t miss this chance to party in pink to kick off the Cherry Blossom Month festivities.

#BokuBlossoms Brunch — Sun., March 12, noon

#BokuBlossoms Brunch invites friends, families and groups to think pink at this lively brunch party. With a local DJ spinning high-energy tunes, a cherry blossom popup throughout the restaurant and Boku’s fan-favorite dim sum menu, this is a brunch party not to be missed. The $10 ticket includes a welcome sake bomb to kick off Sunday Funday and a flower crown for guests to match the ambiance.

From sharable dumplings to bahn mi avocado toast, Cherry Blossom Month cocktails and an unmatchable atmosphere, #BokuBlossoms Brunch is sure to be one for the books. Boku’s locally loved brunch libations will also be available such as mimosa flights and the 64-ounce shareable bloody Mary featuring an outpour of garnishes such as 1/2 honey chicken, potstickers, bao buns and more. Guests are encouraged to dress in their best blossom-inspired outfits. Tickets will soon be released.

Flavors in Bloom: A Sake-Pairing Dinner — Tues., March 28, 6:30 p.m.

Boku and Ratio are pleased to present Flavors in Bloom, a sake-pairing dinner featuring Ratio Chef/Owner Javier Uriarte in collaboration with Boku’s Executive Chef Devonte Smith. The four-course menu will highlight a bouquet of bright spring flavors through a display of pan-Asian cuisine.

Boku boasts one of the area’s largest selections of premium hot and chilled sake which will be a spotlight at Flavors in Bloom. Each course will be paired with sake while a local sake guru guides guests through the tasting notes and flavor profile.

“This is an exciting opportunity to get creative and step outside the box while highlighting some high-quality sakes,” says Javier Uriarte, chef and owner of Ratio, which regularly hosts themed, coursed dinners at its Northeast Columbia location. “We look forward to bringing our Peruvian flair to Boku and collaborating with their team to create an unforgettable dining experience.”

Festive floral attire in blush tones is encouraged while guests continue the tradition of Hanami by savoring springtime flavors with Boku and Ratio. Complimentary valet will be available. Tickets and more details to be announced soon.

Boku is now open for lunch

Earlier this month, Boku extended its service hours to open for lunch. In addition to its full menu that features creative takes on traditional dishes from a wide range of Asian influences, such as Szechuan green beans and char siu pork noodles, Boku is offering a build-your-own Bento box. The $14 customizable box includes an entrée, such as General Bob’s chicken or garlic noodles; a side, like crab rangoons or spring rolls; rice of guest’s choice; soup or salad, including miso soup or seaweed salad.

Boku’s vibrant, art-forward atmosphere and quick service make it an ideal lunch spot for young professionals, couples, business executives, creatives and more.

Located on Gervais St. next to Vista-staple Motor Supply Co. Bistro and popular shopping destination Urban Outfitters, Boku has become known for its high-energy, edgy atmosphere — where vibrant colors in saturated hues are around every corner.
