Annual Holiday Event to Benefit St. Francis Cancer Center

Bon Secours announced the return of the annual St. Francis Festival of Trees. 2023 marks the 38th annual event, which will officially begin on Friday, November 17th.

“This time of year is about loved ones coming together, and we’re so proud to host an event that has become a longstanding tradition for many Upstate families,” said Erik Whaley, president of the St. Francis Foundation. “It’s also the season of giving and this event is a shining example of that, as the Festival of Trees is made possible through the generosity of local businesses, schools, and individuals. Their support allows us to continue funding important programs that provide innovative and holistic care for our patients. Our oncology program, this year’s beneficiary, allows us to deliver the very best in faith, hope, and expertise for all we serve.”

87 spectacularly decorated trees will line the entranceway of two hotels in downtown Greenville this year, giving visitors and community members the chance to experience the magic of the holidays. View the trees at the Courtyard Marriott Downtown and the Hyatt Regency Greenville.

Each year, companies, schools, and other organizations across the Upstate each sponsor a tree that then is decorated by volunteers. Over the years, these sponsorships have raised millions of dollars that have directly benefitted the health system’s various programs and departments. Project SEARCH, the Level II Special Care Nursery at St. Francis Eastside Hospital, and Open Arms Hospice are just a few of the programs that have previously received funding from this annual holiday event.

This year’s event will support the creation of a new surgical oncology procedure suite to be located at the Bon Secours St. Francis Cancer Center. It will provide a dedicated area for surgical oncologists to perform consultations, office visits, and minor in-office procedures for patients in one-convenient location.

“The Bon Secours St. Francis Cancer Program is deeply grateful for the support from the Festival of Trees, which reflects our health system’s dedication to improving the well-being of our community, especially those community members battling cancer. This contribution will make a tangible difference in the lives of those navigating the difficult journey of cancer,” said Andrew Honeychuck, Administrative Director of Bon Secours Oncology.

The 2023 Bon Secours St. Francis Festival of Trees will run through Monday, December 25th.
