Bon Secours Mercy Health recognized as Top 10 Company for Executive Women & Best Company for Multicultural Women

 Bon Secours Mercy Health (BSMH) has received two prestigious national recognitions for its commitment to supporting, developing and promoting women leaders throughout its health system that spans seven states and includes 50 hospitals and 60,000 employees.

Seramount, a strategic professional services and research firm dedicated to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace, recently named BSMH a “Top 10 Company for Executive Women” and a “Best Company for Multicultural Women” for 2022.

Bon Secours St. Francis Health System is part of Bon Secours Mercy Health, one of the 20 largest health systems in the United States and the fifth-largest Catholic health system in the country. The Greenville market provides compassionate medical care to thousands of Upstate residents through Bon Secours St. Francis Downtown and Bon Secours St. Francis Eastside, as well as a network of primary and specialty care practices, and ambulatory care sites across the Greenville region.

2022 Top 10 Company for Executive Women

The Top 10 Company for Executive Women award celebrates companies that champion women’s advancement, with a focus on succession planning, profit-and-loss roles, gender pay parity, support programs and flexibility programs.

Highlights of the 2022 Best Companies for Executive Women list:

  • The percentage of women corporate executives increased one percentage point to 35 percent versus 34 percent in 2021. Female board of directors also increased two percentage points to 38 percent from 36 percent in 2021.
  • Forty-five percent of the top 20 percent highest-paid employees are women, up from 41 percent in 2021.
  • The percentage of female corporate executives with P&L responsibilities has remained the same year over year at 30 percent.
  • Eighty-nine percent of winning companies hold managers accountable for hiring and advancing women, compared to 81 percent in 2021. The most prevalent means are through performance reviews and bonus compensation.
  • Seventy-five percent of the Top 75 Companies for Executive Women offer formal sponsorship, up from 68 percent in 2021.
  • Seventy-two percent compensate managers for DEI results (including women’s representation), up from 55 percent in 2021.

2022 Best Companies for Multicultural Women

The Best Companies for Multicultural Women list recognizes those committed to advancing the careers of BIPOC and multicultural women in the workplace.

Highlights of the 2022 Best Companies for Multicultural Women list: 

  • Multicultural Women (MCW) represented 24 percent of the workforce (vs. 20 percent last year).
  • There has also been progress at two significant levels: senior managers, the pipeline into the top level (corporate executives), and managers, one level below.
    • MCW represented 12 percent of senior managers (vs. 11 percent last year), and in the Top 10 Companies, they represented 15 percent of senior managers (vs. 10 percent last year).
    • MCW represented 18 percent of managers (vs. 15 percent last year). For the Top 10 Companies, MCW represented 21 percent of managers (vs. 16 percent last year.)
    • MCW women also represented 14 percent of the top 20 percent of the highest earners (vs. 10 percent last year) and 16 percent of the highest earners for the Top 10 Companies (vs. 11 percent last year).
