Health System to Host 4 Flu Clinics During October

With the goal of making flu shots accessible throughout the community, Bon Secours is hosting a series of flu vaccine clinics over the next few weeks for adults, ages 18 to 64.

Flu vaccines have been shown to prevents millions of illnesses and flu-related doctor’s visits each year. Health care providers say it may be even more crucial this year.

“We are preparing for a busier than usual flu season, especially as we’ve seen more of the COVID restrictions ease in the community with masking, hand hygiene, and social distancing,” said Irene Pena, a registered nurse working with the Bon Secours Community Wellness Outreach program. “This year’s vaccine helps protect against 4 different flu strains and is an important step in preventing illnesses, medical visits, hospitalizations, and even death.”

The flu vaccine will be offered for free on a first-come, first-serve basis, while supplies last. You must be at least 18 to participate. High-dose vaccines for those over the age of 65 will not be available at these clinics.

All participants will be required to wear a mask and follow social distancing protocols. Masks will be provided on site for anyone who does not have one.
