October 24-30 is Respiratory Care Week
The Bon Secours St. Francis Respiratory Care Department was recently recognized as the South Carolina Society for Respiratory Care (SCSRC) Department of the Year for 2020.
Each year, one deserving department from South Carolina is chosen to receive this award for outstanding commitment to education, professional growth and development, leadership and collaboration, promoting public awareness, participation in their professional society, and student activities and leadership. This award was presented to Karen Alvarenga BSRT/RCP, Respiratory Manager, during the 2021 SCSRC 50th Annual Conference in Myrtle Beach, SC.
“The St. Francis respiratory department’s associate engagement and commitment to quality and outcomes has placed them at the forefront of innovation for respiratory care,” said Joseph Whitten, director of Respiratory Care. “We are proud of this team, who have worked hard throughout this past 18 months to ensure that our patients receive the highest quality care and are pleased that they have been recognized for their outstanding efforts.”
The Bon Secours team has led many multi-disciplinary initiatives to improve patient outcomes, reduce length of stay, reduce ventilator associated events, reduce post-operative pulmonary complications and increase overall value to the health system.
Congratulations to the team for their hard work and dedication to our community!
