August 31, 2020

Bon Secours St. Francis Eastside has been recognized with the 2020 QUEST® Award for High-Value Healthcare from Premier Inc., a leading healthcare improvement company, for providing outstanding patient care.

Bon Secours received the award for achieving top overall performance in all five of the areas measured in Premier’s nationally acclaimed QUEST 2020 collaborative, including affordability, effective care and coordination, prevention and treatment for leading causes of mortality, person and family experience, and patient safety. St. Francis Eastside is one of only five healthcare providers to earn this award out of nearly 200.

“This recognition reinforces our commitment to reliably deliver the best care experience to the patients we serve,” said Shannon McCowan, Chief Operating Officer at Bon Secours St. Francis – Greenville. “St. Francis Eastside is proud to win the QUEST Award as we continue down our path of improving patient outcomes and community health overall.”

Premier brings together 1,500 hospitals and health systems in multiple collaboratives, including QUEST, to leverage the power of collaboration on a national scale. Within these collaboratives, healthcare providers work with each other to develop, share and scale best practices that improve quality and safety, reduce costs and share risk.

“QUEST facilities are continuing to set new standards of clinical excellence nationwide,” said Seth Edwards, Vice President of Strategy, Innovation and Population Health for Premier. “Together, they have worked to outperform in healthcare. Premier congratulates Bon Secours St. Francis Eastside for its fantastic achievements.”

A recipient of The Joint Commission and National Quality Forum’s 2015 John M. Eisenberg Patient Safety and Quality Award, QUEST was launched in 2008 to help health systems reliably deliver the most efficient, effective and caring experience for every patient, every time. Hospitals in Premier’s QUEST collaborative perform 29% better than non-Premier hospitals in achieving value-based purchasing payments.

All 197 QUEST 2020 hospitals submitting data for 4Q2018 through 3Q2019 were eligible for the QUEST Award. Performance thresholds were established at the top quartile of performance in all measures except affordability, which was based on top tercile of performance, from the baseline period. Top performance methodology for each dimension varied depending on the measure calculation and methodology.
