Bon Secours St. Francis launches comprehensive breast program

April 23, 2025

Bon Secours St. Francis launched a new, comprehensive breast program, designed to bring together state-of-the-art technology, multidisciplinary experience, and a patient-centered approach to enhance breast health and cancer care in the Upstate.

As part of this initiative, Bon Secours is pleased to welcome Dr. Jennifer Beatty, a highly skilled and respected breast surgeon, as the program’s medical director. She will work with multidisciplinary teams to streamline processes, ensuring a highly reliable workflow, and reducing the time between imaging, diagnostics, and treatment for breast cancer patients.

Dr. Beatty earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Kansas City University of Medicine and Bioscience before completing her residency at Ohio University and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Beatty brings a wealth of specialized training, including certifications in oncoplastic surgery, Hidden Scar™ techniques, and laser treatments.

Recognizing the vital role of nutrition in cancer care, Dr. Beatty pursued further education and became licensed in oncology nutrition to better support her patients. She also serves on the American Cancer Society’s Board of Executive Leadership Council and actively participates in breast cancer research to ensure patients have access to cutting-edge treatments.

“We are in an exciting new era of breast cancer care, where early detection and personalized treatment plans can make all the difference,” said Dr. Beatty. “By combining our advanced technology with a compassionate, patient-first approach, we will continue to improve outcomes and provide comprehensive support for every patient on their journey to healing.”

This new, comprehensive breast program will integrate services already offered at the Pearlie Harris Center for Breast Health and the Bon Secours St. Francis Cancer Center, ensuring seamless coordination of care. Additionally, a new surgical procedure suite is set to open in May at the cancer center, allowing for on-site, minimally invasive procedures to enhance patient convenience and outcomes for multiple surgical specialties. Plans are also underway to open a comprehensive breast clinic on the campus of Bon Secours St. Francis Eastside’s campus later this year, further expanding access to specialized breast care services.

Supporting early detection efforts, Bon Secours will continue utilizing its two mobile mammography units, which have been instrumental in providing accessible breast cancer screenings to communities across the region.
