Book scholarship named for professor of 30 years

January 12, 2012

GREENVILLE, SC – January 12, 2012 – Hubert Lacquement, who has taught Mechanical Engineering Technology at Greenville Technical College since 1982, was recognized on January 9, his 80th birthday, with the naming of a book scholarship in his honor. Lacquement has a passion for education and for reading. He retired from full-time employment eight years ago, but continues to teach as an adjunct instructor in MET and physics, working at Greenville Tech and at Furman University.

Greenville Technical College was established to prepare the labor market for an increase and diversification of the state’s industrial base in the 1960s. Much has changed over the past 50 years, but Greenville Tech’s mission of driving personal and economic growth through learning has been a consistent thread through the college’s history. Instructors of long standing such as Lacquement have been a critical element in Greenville Tech’s ability to prepare students for today’s and tomorrow’s opportunities.
