Bowl for Kids’ Sake a striking success, raising more than $58,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Columbia

Volunteers and community members came out on April 9th to show support and raise money at Bowl for Kids’ Sake, supporting the mentoring work of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Columbia . This year’s theme was “Rock & Bowl” and featured music from the Jet Lag Jones band, black-out bowling and a guest appearance from Mason, the Columbia Fireflies mascot.

With help from local sponsors, Bowl for Kids’ Sake raised $58,000, which will be used to help the children and families of Richland and Lexington counties. The sponsors for Bowl for Kids’ Sake were: AgFirst, Blanchard Machinery, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Michelin, Ogletree Deakins, PepsiCo, Chernoff Newman, Keenan Suggs, Wells Fargo, Bauknight Pietras and Stormer, PA, Rogers Lewis, Turner Padget, Merrill Lynch- John DeWalt, Nelson Mullins, Jack Oliver Springs and Patio, Granger Owens, Lizards Thicket, First Citizens Bank- North Main Street, Bluestein Nichols Thompson & Delgado, LLC, and Palmetto Citizens Federal Credit Union.

“This year’s Bowl for Kids’ Sake was a great success, and I am so proud of the donors, sponsors, Bigs, Littles and bowlers who participated,” said Cristy Marshall, President and CEO. “This is our largest fundraiser of the year, and the funds from this event helps us to continue serving the children of the Midlands by providing quality, professionally supported mentoring relationships. The amazing part of this all is that by just being a friend to an at-risk child, you can change their lives for the better, forever!”
