Boyd hosting sports camp in Greenville

March 24, 2015

GREENVILLE, SC- Newly signed Pittsburgh Steeler quarterback Tajh Boyd is hosting a youth football clinic at the Kroc Center in Greenville on April 4.

The goal of the camp is to have the kids enjoy their time with Boyd and the other coaches as well as learn the fundamentals of how to play each position of football safely. It is a no-contact approach that is intended to teach the game at a high level to all ages. The camp is open for ages 6-18 and will feature six stations that each teaches a different position group. On a rotational basis, all campers will have an opportunity to learn from and catch passes from Tajh Boyd.

Packages start at $85 a camper, which includes personal instruction from Tajh Boyd and an experienced coaching staff, a free Adidas camp T-shirt, and a photo opportunity with Tajh Boyd which each camper can access through www.crushrushphotography.com for free after the camp is completed.

There are also packages that include the above plus Tajh Boyd signed memorabilia such as photographs or footballs for $125 and $150 respectively. Proceeds from the camp are to benefit non-profit organizations, The Tajh Boyd Foundation and the South Carolina Football Hall of Fame Business Connect and Youth Football Scholarship Programs.

The camp will be held on April 4 at 1 p.m. at the Kroc Center in Greenville.

Spots are still available for the camp, but organizers, Wyatt Sports Academy (WSA) and Sinkem Sports Sports Marketing, expect a sell out before the camp kicks off on that Saturday afternoon. Michael Foster of Wyatt Sports encouraged everyone to, everyone to register online for the camp beforehand so day of check-ins can be quick. Registration can be done at www.wyattacademy.com/tajh-boyd-clinics or www.teamtajh.com.

In addition, Boyd will be at the Mauldin Chick-Fil-A from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and the Simpsonville Chick-Fil-A from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday March 24. There will be opportunities to register for the youth camp at both locations. You can keep up to date on all Boyd related events on www.teamtajh.com or www.sinkemsports.com.

The coaching staff for the camp looks impressive as former Clemson football stars Roderick McDowell, Adam Humphries, and current Tennessee Titans assistant coach Nick Eason will be joining Boyd. Rounding out the staff is local quarterback guru Ramon Robinson, former Old Dominion defensive back Patrick Young, former college linebacker and college coach Josh Phillips, current offensive line coach Amos Lamb of the state champion Hillcrest High School, and former Western Carolina running back and high school coach Walter Gary. There is even a former Gamecock scheduled to be there as current Greenville Prep Head Coach Rod Lorick will be on site. He played briefly for South Carolina as he finished his collegiate career as a tight end for Gardner-Webb University.
