Build Carolina welcomes World Finance CEO and President Chad Prashad to its Board of Directors

World Finance CEO and President Chad Prashad was recently appointed to the Board of Directors at Build Carolina, a South Carolina-based nonprofit dedicated to advancing the state’s tech community through training, connection, and support. Prashad will serve a three-year term.
Prashad brings a wealth of experience with him to the Build Carolina board. Currently, he is the President, CEO, and board member at World Finance, a people-focused finance company headquartered in Greenville, SC that provides personal finance and credit mobility solutions through over 1,100 branches across 16 states. Prashad also serves on the board of directors for the American Financial Services Association and The Family Effect, a non-profit that works to reduce addiction and its impacts. He also served for seven years, including as chair, on the board for local nonprofit Fostering Great Ideas. Prashad and his wife operate CHAM Innovation Fund, a charitable foundation that helps fund organizations doing “good, scalable and impactful” work in the community.
Prashad also focuses on education, serving on the Board of Trustees at Presbyterian College and helped establish a new major in data analytics in 2018 while serving as the Data Analytics Advisory Committee Chair. More recently, Prashad helped lead the development of the college’s Service Entrepreneurship program in 2021.

He will bring great insight to the organization’s strategy and direction over the next three years,” said Lelia King, executive director of Build Carolina. “Chad’s data and analytics background combined with his knowledge of how tech intersects with personal finance will be very valuable for program participants.”
Founded in 2017, Build Carolina first launched Carolina Code School, a full-time, 12-week web development course that prepares students for a career in software development. The nonprofit also hosts a fellowship program, Develop Carolina, which is a six-month program designed to give new developers hands-on experience working with tech companies on real-world projects. Build Carolina works closely with the South Carolina Department of Commerce Office of Innovation on SC Codes, a statewide initiative connecting South Carolinians to the education and resources needed to access careers in technology.
