Building Stronger Communities: GLEAMNS CEO Dr. Ameca Thomas Honored with Statewide 2026 Innovative Program of the Year Award

The award was presented during the 2026 SCCAP/SCSHSA Spring Statewide Training Conference, honoring GLEAMNS’ leadership in advancing innovative, high-impact programs that are transforming lives and strengthening communities across South Carolina.
The Innovative Program of the Year Award recognizes agencies that demonstrate forward-thinking strategies, measurable outcomes, and a strong commitment to addressing the evolving needs of the communities they serve. Under Dr. Thomas’s leadership, GLEAMNS continues to expand its impact through innovation, strategic partnerships, and a commitment to building stronger, more resilient communities.

GLEAMNS Human Resources Commission serves 14 counties across the Upstate and Midlands of South Carolina, including Greenwood, Laurens, Edgefield, Abbeville, McCormick, Newberry, Saluda, Richland, Lexington, Cherokee, Spartanburg, Pickens, Oconee, and Anderson. Through a comprehensive network of programs—such as Head Start and Early Head Start, Community Services Block Grant (CSBG), Weatherization Assistance, LIHEAP, and other supportive services—GLEAMNS supports thousands of individuals and families each year while helping to stabilize households, strengthen neighborhoods, and create pathways to long-term community sustainability.
The award underscores GLEAMNS’s ability to lead with purpose and deliver meaningful results—ensuring that communities receive not only critical services, but also the tools and opportunities needed to grow stronger together.
