Buzz-Worthy News: Laurens County BUZZ Named Small Business of the Quarter

May 18, 2025

The Laurens County Chamber of Commerce recently named the Laurens County Buzz as the 2025 Small Business of the First Quarter—an honor that shines a light not only on the work of its publisher, Brenda Lopez Stewart, but also on the growing impact of community-driven news in our county.

Since its launch in 2020, The Buzz has provided a fresh, upbeat voice dedicated to telling the good stories of Laurens County—spotlighting small businesses, celebrating community achievements, and helping residents stay informed and engaged with news that matters to them.

“There’s always more to a story than just the headline,” said Stewart. “We take pride in not only sharing the news but also telling the stories behind it—the people, the passion, and the purpose that make Laurens County special.”

The recognition came after community members nominated The Laurens County Buzz and Stewart for consistent efforts in promoting local events, showcasing small businesses, and encouraging connection and pride across the county. From the pool of nominations, the Chamber’s Board of Directors selected The Buzz as the quarterly honoree. The Buzz has become a trusted resource for many and a reminder of how local storytelling can strengthen a community.

The Chamber’s Business of Excellence program highlights one outstanding small business each quarter, selected based on community nominations. It’s just one of the many ways the Laurens County Chamber continues to support, uplift, and advocate for local business owners.

“We’re grateful to the Laurens County Chamber for creating opportunities like this to spotlight small businesses,” Stewart said. “This recognition is really a celebration of everyone who contributes to the good news happening here every day.”

Residents are encouraged to take part in future nominations for the Chamber’s Small Business of the Quarter award—a simple but powerful way to recognize the entrepreneurs and local leaders who help Laurens County thrive.

And as always—support local, shop small, and keep spreading the Buzz!
