C4 Ministries calls on Laurens County churches for prayer and support

August 10, 2026

C4 Ministries of Laurens County is asking churches across the county to stand behind its work with families at risk of losing their homes, as the organization heads into its annual charity golf tournament this fall.

Board members Sandy Moore and Jess Satterfield shared an update on the ministry with the congregation of Westminster Presbyterian Church, outlining its history, its four guiding principles and the families it has served this year.

The organization began about six years ago as Family Promise of Laurens County, when area churches took turns housing homeless families until they could be moved into permanent housing. Moore said COVID brought that rotating model to a halt, and the board later left the national Family Promise organization to affiliate with C4 Ministries, a Christ-centered organization based in Union County with a presence in Anderson.

“It was much more aligned with the values of our board,” Moore said. “We kept our own board, we keep our own money. We run things our way. We’re just associated, and have access to other resources.”

The name reflects four guiding principles: Christ-centered, crisis assistance, care and counseling. Moore said the ministry’s work has shifted toward prevention, as more families come to C4 at risk of homelessness rather than already homeless.

“Sometimes people are just one car repair away from losing a job and then losing their housing,” Moore said. “We can give somebody four new tires on their car, and keep them getting to work, and keep them in their home.”

Satterfield said the longer-term effect on families is what stands out, with families learning to budget and building relationships with staff members Kelly and Amanda. She described a mother of two who returned to the office simply to share back-to-school pictures of her children, and who now refers others in need to the ministry.

“The need is very, very great,” Satterfield said.

The ministry will host its annual charity golf tournament Thursday, Sept. 24, at Lakeside Country Club, 1 Country Club Drive in Laurens. Check-in begins at 8 a.m., with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Sponsorships range from $125 for a hole sponsor to $1,500 for the presenting sponsor, with team and birdie levels at $500 and $1,000. Each level from $500 up includes a foursome in the tournament.
