C4 Ministries of Laurens County Welcomes New Executive Director at Community Reception

June 16, 2026

C4 Ministries of Laurens County introduced its new executive director, Amanda Anderson, during a dessert reception June 9 at Bobo Hall, First Baptist Church Laurens. About 70 supporters, partner churches and families served by the ministry attended.

Board Chair Norman Dover opened the program with a welcome and prayer, recognizing founder and president Brad Goodale, board members, staff and former director Marilyn Tollison.

C4 Ministries grew out of Family Promise of Laurens County, which voted in late 2024 to affiliate with C4 Ministries, a Christ-centered organization based in Union. The name reflects its mission: Christ-Centered, Crisis Assistance, Care and Counseling. The ministry works with families who have children to prevent homelessness through shelter, eviction prevention and stabilization services. In 2024, it served 379 individuals, including 223 children.

Anderson, who founded Faith Pentecostal Church in Clinton with her husband, Justin, said the mission is what drew her to the role. “C4 stands for Christ-Centered, Crisis Assistance, Care and Counseling,” she said. “As soon as I saw that, I said, okay, that is something I can get behind.” She added that families reach out daily, facing job loss, plant closures, unreliable transportation and rising housing costs.

Mary Lynn Tollison, a member of First Presbyterian Church in Laurens, described how the partnership helps her congregation connect people in need with the right resources. “This ministry is what is going to change the lives for the people who need the help, not just put a Band-Aid on it,” Fortune said.

A client of the ministry, a single mother of two young sons, said C4 helped her move into an apartment she could afford after months of struggling with rent and high power bills. “Over the last couple of months, I have not been in survival mode,” she said. “I have been able to spend time with my kids.”

Founding board member Steve Hobbs closed the program, noting that C4 operates debt-free but month to month, with funding the limiting factor in how many families it can serve. “The need far exceeds the financial wherewithal we have to do it with,” Hobbs said.
