Call for artists

July 8, 2020
The Arts Center of Kershaw County’s Bassett Gallery proudly announces their annual call for artists for the 2020-2021 Season. The call is open through August 31, 2020 and the exhibition participants are selected by an ever-changing group of prestigious arts professionals. The exhibitions will be installed in the gallery for approximately one month with an opening reception, possibly in conjunction with other Arts Center events. There may also be virtual aspects of the exhibitions as well, as we work our way through safety precautions from the coronavirus.
.
The Bassett Gallery is part of the Art Center’s main Bassett Building, and has hosted countless artists’ work since its inception in 1983. The Gallery is approximately 13′ wide, 9′ tall and 62′ long, with vaulted ceilings and illuminated by adjustable track lighting.
.
The Center is interested in all types and mediums of work. Any individual, collective, or group of artists (age 18+) who reside in the United States or Canada may apply. All media and themes will be considered for exhibition. Submissions will be considered for both solo and group exhibitions.
,.
Artists must submit samples of their proposed exhibition and/or work electronically. Submissions may be made via email, linked to a “cloud” portfolio, or by sending a CD or flash drive with at least 10 images. These images should encompass the artists’ methods and styles, as well as any proposed theme for the exhibition. A resume, artist statement, description of the style of work, its size and medium used should be included. All forms of artistic mediums will be considered.
..
Artists are responsible for load-in, hanging, and tear-down of the exhibit. Any expenses incurred by the artist(s) for travel, set-up, tear-down, etc. of exhibitions are not covered by the Arts Center. The cost of exhibiting in the Bassett Gallery is the full responsibility of the artist(s). Artists are encouraged to allow some or all of the pieces in the exhibition to be available for purchase. The Arts Center will retain 30% of any sales during the period of the exhibition.
.
Selected artists will be notified by the Arts Center no later than September 30, 2020.
.
The Gallery is free and open to the public.
