Callison Tighe contributes $10,000 to Harvest Hope

December 5, 2016

Callison Tighe has contributed $10,000 to Harvest Hope, continuing its commitment to the non-profit organization that helps feed millions of South Carolinians every year.

The donation to the food bank is a tradition at Callison Tighe. The firm made its first contribution during the 2009 holiday season as the nation and the state struggled to recover from a recession that spanned three years. Over the years, Callison Tighe has donated $85,000 to help South Carolina families meet their most basic needs.

“Harvest Hope is a charity that meets the most basic of needs in our community,” Callison Tighe partner Rick Detwiler said. “It is easy to forget or perhaps overlook the fact that there are families quite literally who have to choose every day between shelter and food. At risk are the most vulnerable – small children and the elderly. There are many worthwhile charities, but none is more important than the needs filled by Harvest Hope.”

Harvest Hope distributed almost 28 million pounds of food to 2.1 million South Carolinians in 2014-15. The organization partners with 476 non-profit agencies to serve people across 20 counties. Additionally, Harvest Hope is South Carolina’s primary disaster hunger relief organization, meaning it’s ready to mobilize quickly to any area hit by a manmade or natural disaster.

Harvest Hope’s need is crucial now, during the holiday season. The organization is asking for donations of canned goods and supplies as well as food drive sponsors. To learn more or donate, visit harvesthope.org and click on “Donate Now,” or call (803) 254-4432.
