Camden attracts new wine bar featuring wide selection

April 5, 2021

Downtown Camden has a new destination for wine and craft beer lovers, expanding historic Broad Street’s offerings.

Broad & Vine has re-animated a circa 1905 building, which provides a majestic backdrop for the new brainchild of Laurie and Westley Parks. Featuring a 32-bottle automatic cruvinet that dispenses a wide variety of wines at the perfect temperature, Camden’s newest hot spot also highlights craft beers and sparkling wines behind the bar. Broad & Vine also serves small bites and specialty desserts.

Revitalizing the original First National Bank building has involved a blend of preservation and improvement. Expansive windows look out on Broad Street, soaring ceilings have been outfitted with noise-reduction panels, and architectural gems like a spiral staircase and bank vault have been carefully preserved.

Outfitted with a mix of soft furnishings, a bar, and tables, the Broad & Vine also has a private tasting room that also can be used for special events. Throughout Broad & Vine a rotation collection of work by local artists is for sale. Outdoor sidewalk seating is available.

Redevelopment efforts in Camden, like the creation of Broad & Vine, are spearheaded by the city’s Downtown Camden Program Director Kat Spadacenta. Part of Camden’s efforts to revitalize its historic downtown is by encouraging economic development and historic preservation. The time-tested approach reminds stakeholders that a healthy downtown is a key part of sustainable economic development.

Spadacenta works closely with the Parks and others, who seeks to attract visitors, residents and locals to historic Downtown Camden. Numerous apartments and lofts have been rehabbed and marketed above and adjacent to the historic building.

Broad & Vine is located at 1025 Broad Street; call 803.713.7898 for more information.
