Canal Insurance Company announces key promotions

GREENVILLE, SC – Canal Insurance Company announced that the Company’s Board of Directors has appointed Paul Brocklebank as its Chief Operating Officer and Laura Beth Medley as Vice President, Human Resources.

Joining the Company in June 2010, Mr. Brocklebank previously served as its Chief Underwriting Officer.   He began his commercial underwriting career with the Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, and prior to joining Canal, held senior underwriting officer roles at Royal Sun Alliance and Sompo Japan America.  Brocklebank secured his Bachelor of Arts degree from Westminster College, a Master of Arts from Carnegie Mellon University, and a Juris Doctorate from Duquesne University School of Law.  He also holds the CPCU designation and is admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.   In his new role, Brocklebank will lead the Underwriting, Marketing and Human Resources Departments of Canal.

Ms. Medley joined Canal in August 2007 and has held positions of increasing responsibility since that time, the most recent being Assistant Vice President of the Company’s Human Resources Department.  Prior to joining Canal, Ms. Medley worked for The Palmetto Bank and as a Human Resources Generalist for Global Textile Partner.  She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Furman University, currently holds the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) designation, and is a Society for Human Resources Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP).

In announcing the promotions, Mr. Pauly stated, “We are grateful for the invaluable contributions that both Paul and Laura Beth have made to Canal and look forward to what they both can accomplish in their new roles.”
