Candidate forums planned for Lexington County Council and Solicitor candidates at Chapin Town Hall

April 28, 2016

Chapin area residents will have an opportunity to meet the candidates running to fill the seat held by Lexington County Council member Johnny Jeffcoat as well as the candidates running to replace Solicitor Donnie Myers in the June 14 primary at two planned Candidate Forums in the Community Room at Chapin Town Hall (157 NW Columbia Avenue, Chapin, SC 29036).

On Thursday, May 19 at 6:30 pm, the four candidates vying to serve District 6, which covers the Irmo and Chapin areas of Lexington County, will share their views and vision for the community. The candidates are Erin Long Bergeson, Ron Derrick, Benjamin Stitely and Dino Teppara. Chapin attorney Lisa Smith will the moderator.

Then on Tuesday, May 31 at 5:30 pm, the three candidates running for Solicitor for the Eleventh Circuit, Rick Hubbard, Candice Lively and Larry Wedekind will share their experience and vision for the post held by Myers since 1976. The Eleventh Circuit covers Edgefield, Lexington, McCormick, and Saluda Counties. Becky Dickson will serve as the moderator for this session.

Both sessions will provide some time for citizens to meet candidates one-on-one before the panel discussions begin. Candidates will share some introductory remarks about their backgrounds, interest in serving the county as an elected official and their vision for the future of Lexington County. There will be a series of questions related to the issues and challenges facing the community provided by a moderator, and then citizens will have an opportunity to ask questions from the floor as time permits.
