Cane Bay High receives Whole Child Award

October 13, 2015

MONCKS CORNER, SC  – Cane Bay High School (CBHS) received the Whole Child Award, with just three other schools in the state, at the 2015 South Carolina Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (SCASCD) Fall Conference in Columbia, on Friday, October 2.

Principal of Cane Bay High School, Dr. Lee Westberry, said, “The Whole Child Engaged Award is a special honor for CBHS. We have spent great effort building an engaged culture for our students and community. We have striven to make school a place kids want to come, not a place they have to go. We are especially thankful for our local and business community for investing in our students.”

The Whole Child Award seeks to help schools ensure that students are safe, healthy, supported, challenged and engaged as they enter school each day so they are ready to learn.

Applicants for the SCASCD Whole Child Award submitted an application and video highlighting a component of the Whole Child Award in which they were seeking recognition and further support. Winning schools received a banner and a $1,000 grant, given to assist in the implementation of other goals related to one or more of the tenets of The Whole Child Initiative.
