Capital City/Lake Murray Country announces exciting lineup of national fishing tournaments for 2026–2027

Capital City/Lake Murray Country (CCLMC) announced an exciting lineup of nationally recognized fishing tournaments coming to Lake Murray during the 2026–2027 season. From professional bass anglers to elite kayak competitors, these premier events will bring thousands of anglers, spectators, and outdoor enthusiasts to the Midlands while showcasing Lake Murray as one of the nation’s premier freshwater fishing destinations.

Known for its world-class bass fishery, expansive 50,000-acre reservoir, and proven track record of hosting major competitive fishing events, Lake Murray continues to attract top tournament organizations from across the country. These events generate significant economic impact for the region while highlighting the area’s exceptional outdoor recreation opportunities.

2026 Tournament Schedule

Major League Fishing Phoenix Bass Fishing League Super Tournament

September 19—20, 2026

The Major League Fishing Phoenix Bass Fishing League Super Tournament returns to Lake Murray September 19-20, bringing top anglers together to compete on one of the Southeast’s most productive fisheries.

Daily takeoff is scheduled for 7 a.m. ET, with weigh-ins beginning at 3 p.m. ET at Dreher Island State Park, 3677 State Park Road, Prosperity, S.C. Spectators are encouraged to attend the daily weigh-ins and experience the excitement as anglers bring their catches to the scales and battle for top honors.

Bassmaster Kayak Series Championship

October 15—17, 2026

Lake Murray will host a historic first as B.A.S.S. brings the inaugural stand-alone Newport Bassmaster Kayak Series Championship presented by Native Watercraft to South Carolina. Previously held alongside the Bassmaster Classic, the 2026 championship marks the first time the prestigious event will stand on its own, giving the nation’s top kayak anglers an exclusive stage to compete for a national championship.

Recognized nationally for its healthy populations of largemouth and spotted bass, Lake Murray provides competitors with a diverse fishery featuring offshore ledges, docks, standing timber, and shallow cover that demand both strategy and versatility.

The championship will feature the country’s top qualifying kayak anglers who earned their spots through Bassmaster Kayak Series events, Angler of the Year standings, College Kayak Series competitions, and qualifying B.A.S.S. Nation Kayak Series State Championships.

2027 Tournament Schedule

Major League Fishing Tackle Warehouse Pro Circuit

February 18—20, 2027

Major League Fishing returns to Lake Murray with the Tackle Warehouse Pro Circuit, featuring professional anglers competing across three days of tournament action. The event will once again highlight Lake Murray’s reputation as one of the country’s most competitive bass fisheries.

Additional event details, including daily schedules and spectator information, will be announced closer to the tournament.

Bass Pro Shops/Cabela’s Big Bass Tour

April 30 – May 2, 2027

The nationally acclaimed Bass Pro Shops/Cabela’s Big Bass Tour returns to Lake Murray for three days of exciting competition, giving amateur anglers the opportunity to compete for substantial cash prizes based on the largest bass caught during designated hourly weigh-in periods.

“Lake Murray isn’t just a great fishery. It’s one of the best tournament destinations in the country,” said Scott Gordon, Big Bass Tour Tournament Director. “From incredible bass fishing to the exceptional hospitality provided by Capital City/Lake Murray Country, everything comes together to create a world-class tournament experience. After celebrating our 15th year on Lake Murray in 2026, we’re grateful for this longstanding partnership and look forward to welcoming anglers from across the country back in 2027 for another memorable tournament.”
