Cappio and Wash Take New Appointments At USC Upstate

SPARTANBURG, SC – July 1, 2011 – the University of South Carolina Upstate recently announced two new appointments with its Office of Academic Affairs.

Mr. James Cappio has been named director of Continuing Education. For the past four years, Cappio was an instructor of marketing in the George Dean Johnson, Jr. College of Business and Economics at USC Upstate. He has a bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College and a MBA from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia. Before coming to USC Upstate, Cappio spent six years working for the United States Agency for International Development in Eastern Europe teaching business executives how to become competitive in the free market.

title=Dr. Pamela Wash has been named director of Distance Education. Wash has been an assistant professor in the School of Education at USC Upstate for the past five years serving as the Technology Coordinator, NCATE Assessment Coordinator, Middle Level/Secondary Education faculty, as well as Graduate Program faculty.  Her new role will focus on ensuring support and consistent quality of distance education courses. Additionally, she will ensure that all policy and procedure are in place and current as required by all governing and accreditation authorities.
