Cargo Wins International Assignment From Mercedes-Benz

January 5, 2012

GREENVILLE, SC – January 5, 2012 – Cargo, a new model marketing agency headquartered in Greenville, S.C., announced it has been tapped by Mercedes-Benz Canada to build and maintain a completely new website with mobile versions for its Mercedes-Benz Vans division. Mercedes-Benz Vans officials say the web overhaul is one of the division’s most significant marketing initiatives for 2012 and was awarded to Cargo due to the work the agency currently produces as agency-of-record for Daimler Vans USA, a subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz USA.

“It is certainly gratifying to have our digital work sought after by one of the biggest brands in the world,” says Cargo Partner and Digital Strategy Director Scott Brand, “and further solidifies Cargo as ‘business-to-small business’ and ‘automotive’ marketing experts.”

The scope of the digital assignment includes all front-end design, back-end development and systems integration of the Mercedes-Benz Vans web and mobile sites and maintaining the sites and hosting at Cargo’s Greenville data center. The website will have English and French Canadian versions and will be optimized for mobile devices using Apple OS, Android and Blackberry platforms. Cargo is also charged with producing and launching a public facing configurator that allows site visitors to custom build the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Van of their choice.

“We have been extremely impressed with the professionalism, quality and depth of work Cargo has produced for Mercedes-Benz USA,” says Mercedes-Benz Vans Manager Miki Velemirovich. “Having an outstanding digital presence is key to our sales success and Cargo was the clear choice to handle this for us.”

This is the second account Cargo currently has outside the United States. The other is JCB, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of heavy equipment.

Cargo has been the agency-of-record for Daimler Vans USA for nearly two years, marketing the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and Freightliner Sprinter vans. Mercedes-Benz Sprinter is the same product marketed by Mercedes-Benz Vans in Canada. Sprinter vans are light commercial vehicles with a wide variety of passenger and cargo uses and are one of the fastest growing segments of commercial transportation worldwide. Sales of Mercedes-Benz Sprinter have increased over 120 percent in the U.S. since Cargo became AOR.
