Carol Preisinger, Director of Golf Instruction at the Kiawah Island Club, receives 2017 LPGA National Teacher of the Year Award

November 2, 2017
Carol Preisinger, Director of Golf Instruction at the Kiawah Island Club, has been awarded the 2017 Ladies Professional Golf Association National Teacher of the Year Award. The award is given annually to the female golf professional who has demonstrated outstanding accomplishments related to the teaching of golf during the year. Preisinger was also named National Teacher of the Year in 1998 and is among two others to be the only two-time winners of the award.
 .
“It means so much to be appreciated at this time in my career,” Preisinger said. “I am beyond words to be honored as a two-time winner of this award, linked with two LPGA iconic teachers, Shirley Spork (LPGA Founding member) and Dr. DeDe Owens.  I feel like I still have a lot more to do, and even more to learn.”
 .
Preisinger earned a B.A. in Psychology at the University of Georgia, and earned LPGA Master Status in 2010. She served six years on the LPGA Executive and Leadership Committee as a Section President. Preisinger is certified in Bio-Swing Dynamics, AimPoint Green Reading and is a trained PGA H.O.P.E instructor for military veterans. In July of 2017, Preisinger celebrated her 13th anniversary as Director of Instruction with the Kiawah Island Club.
 .
“The Kiawah Island Club is honored to have a talented, female golf professional like Carol on our staff to help Members improve their golf game,” said Chris Randolph, partner with Kiawah Partners. “She has been a great asset in shaping our golf program and continues to bring new knowledge to the team.”
 .
As an instructor, Preisinger’s teaching style is to learn about the player, listen to their needs and provide tips for them to improve. “I spent half of my career learning how to quickly diagnose a flaw by watching ball flight and swing motion,” said Preisinger.  “Today’s technology helps us identify the flaw, and most importantly, the student quickly gets it.  But it doesn’t matter how much technology we use, I always tailor my techniques to the unique student in front of me.”
 .
Carol attributes her success as a golf instructor, and being recognized as National Teacher of the Year for the second time, to her continued learning, service to her association and longevity as a teaching pro. She has been a teaching member of the LPGA since 1988, has benefited from the industry’s best research-based continuing education and learned from a lot of the greatest instructors of the game.
 .
In June of 2017, Kiawah Partners unveiled its new world-class, golf learning facility. The Performance and Development Center (PAD) is a state-of-the-art teaching center that is designed for indoor and outdoor golf shots and putting. The PAD boasts large hitting bays, a golf fitness room, club fitting bay and club repair room. Preisinger oversees the operation and daily management of this facility.
 .
“Kiawah Partners has provided the Club membership with one of the best teaching facilities in the country, and I am very fortunate to have the latest technology to enhance my teaching,” Preisinger said.
 .
Preisinger has received several reputable awards including, the 1998 LPGA Southeast Section and National Teacher of the Year, Golf Digest Top 50 Women’s Best Teachers, Golf Digest Best in State and has been a GOLF Magazine Top 100 Teacher since 2005.
