Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd attorney makes 2009 list

CHARLESTON, COLUMBIA, FLORENCE, AND GREENVILLE, SC, & WASHINGTON, DC – October 7, 2009 – Carter N. Deupree, associate attorney with Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd, P.A., was named to the 2009 class of Greenville First “Best & Brightest 35 and Under” at an awards ceremony September 29, at the BMW Performance Center.

A program of Greenville Business Magazine, “Best & Brightest 35 and Under” is currently in its 16th year and was created to honor Greenville’s young leaders for their professional and community contributions. Thirty-five honorees were chosen this year from a record pool of nominations. To maintain impartiality, honorees were selected by Tan Kirby Davis of Kirby Resource Group and Mike Posey of the United Way based on professional achievements, community contributions and educational background.

Based in the law firm’s Greenville office, Deupree concentrates on real estate and business transactions. He handles both routine and complex business and financial transactions.  Proficient in French, Deupree received his J.D. from Washington and Lee University in 2006, and his B.A. in 2003, also from W&L.

A native of Park Hills, Kentucky, Carter Deupree, 29, jumped into the Greenville community headfirst upon moving to SC in 2006, volunteering his time and resources to the United Way’s Loaned Executive Program and Palmetto Society, the Downtown Symphony Club, A Child’s Haven, the Blue Ridge Council of Boy Scouts, the Chautauqua Society board of directors, the Urban Land Institute, and the Greenville Chamber of Commerce. He was most recently selected for the Leadership Greenville Class 36.

Anne S. Ellefson, Managing Director of Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd, describes Deupree as “bright, curious and modest.” She said, “Carter is the type individual who brings a unique perspective and sees the big picture of this complex world and its divergent issues, challenges and opportunities.  He has the inherent qualities to help others realize the importance of working together in partnership and collaboration, and not in competition. This characteristic is critically important as we all work together to develop our future leaders.
