Catch the Action: Major League Fishing’s premier championships head to TV this Saturday
August 20, 2026
Whether you’re gearing up for a weekend on the Waccamaw River or heading out into the coastal waters around Georgetown, bass anglers throughout South Carolina have a good reason to tune in this Saturday morning. Major League Fishing (MLF) is bringing two of its biggest national championship events straight to television—and both were contested right in our backyards on Lake Murray.
Filmed earlier this year in Columbia, South Carolina, back-to-back premiere episodes will showcase how top-tier weekend enthusiasts and college anglers tackled one of South Carolina’s most famous fisheries.
The Saturday Morning Lineup
Set your DVRs or tune into VICE TV this Saturday, Aug. 22 for two hours of high-stakes tournament bass fishing:
Even if you primarily fish the coastal rivers and local blackwater spots, watching how national competitors dissect Lake Murray offers plenty of takeaways for any angler in the state.
Grassroots Excellence: The Phoenix BFL All-American represents the pinnacle of weekend circuit fishing. Out of thousands of grass-roots boaters and co-anglers across 24 divisions nationwide, only the best earned a spot at Murray, competing for a top prize of $120,000 for boaters and $50,000 for co-anglers. Seeing how everyday working anglers break down familiar South Carolina water under championship pressure is great inspiration for local tournament anglers.
The Future of the Sport: The College Fishing National Championship brought 151 of the sharpest collegiate teams in the nation to Columbia, with massive stakes including a new Phoenix 518 Pro bass boat package and cash. Young anglers consistently bring modern electronics, innovative technique presentations, and aggressive tactics that are worth watching closely.
