November 2, 2022

The Central Midlands Regional Transit Authority (The COMET) wants to help riders exercise their right to vote. The COMET fixed route buses and DART services will be free for those going to vote in the Tuesday, November 8 elections.

“We realize how important it is for people to have access to the political process and The COMET wants to ensure that transportation is available to help those needing a ride to the polls,” said LeRoy DesChamps, Chief Operating Officer of The COMET. “Voting is an essential activity that provides everyone with an equal opportunity to let their voice be heard and just knowing what bus or route to take to the polls is the first step in that process.”

Riders can plan their trip by downloading and using the Transit App. For more information regarding routes, please visit www.catchthecomet.org/routes or call 803.255.7100. Older adults and those with disabilities may also call 803.255.7123 for DART services and must specify that they are going to their polling location to vote.

“The COMET has a long history of ensuring that people needing transportation to the polls are able to get it by using our services,” said Allison Terracio, Chair of The COMET Board of Directors. “We are happy to provide this complimentary transportation service during the election season for the people we serve in the Midlands.”

Voters can verify their registration information by visiting www.scvotes.gov.
