CBRE Certifies South Carolina Offices For Operational Environmental Sustainability

July 22, 2015

GREENVILLE, SC – CBRE announces that the Charleston, SC, and Greenville, SC, offices have achieved a Bronze level certification in the 2015 Toward a Greener Tomorrow Certification program.

CBRE’s Toward a Greener Tomorrow Certification program promotes industry-leading standards of excellence in operations and business efficiency throughout the firm’s occupied space in the U.S. The program, aligned with tenets of USGBC® LEED® and EPA ENERGY STAR®, serves as the organization’s internal certification system to support and reinforce operations that reduce carbon emissions.

“Guided by our corporate environmental sustainability policies, CBRE’s South Carolina locations continue to promote and expand the Toward A Greener Tomorrow certification program through their diligence and partnership in improving the sustainability of our operations,” said Steve Smith, Managing Director of South Carolina.

All U.S. offices over 5,000 sq. ft. are annually audited and those offices that have most fully implemented CBRE’s Sustainable Office Operation Standards are recognized. Certification criteria are aligned with aspects of the USGBC’s LEED and EPA ENERGY STAR® programs and are customized to the unique operational requirements of a firm of CBRE’s size and complexity.

In response to ongoing global discussion about climate change and its impact on the natural environment, CBRE has committed to minimizing that impact for the company, clients and communities.

“Buildings are widely viewed as a significant contributor to carbon emissions, and as the world’s largest manager of commercial buildings CBRE has both a responsibility and an opportunity to influence the way buildings are built, sourced, managed, occupied and sold,” said Donnie Robinson, Managing Director of Asset Services for the Carolinas.

CBRE’s integrated platform of energy and sustainability solutions helps clients balance environmental concerns with cost-saving business strategies. In 2015 CBRE has been ranked #143 in the 2015 Newsweek Green and for the eighth consecutive year earned a 2015 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award in recognition of its continued leadership in protecting the environment through superior energy efficiency achievements.
