CCSD announces 2016 National Merit semifinalists

CHARLESTON, SC – The Charleston County School District (CCSD) announced the names of 23 CCSD high school seniors that have been chosen as semifinalists for the 61st annual National Merit Scholarship Program. The students are:

“These students have distinguished themselves by their commitment to academic excellence and to their schools,” said Gerrita Postlewait, CCSD Superintendent. “We are proud of their recognition and wish them luck as they continue in the competition for scholarships in the spring.”
The National Merit Scholarship Program honors individual students who show exceptional academic ability and potential for success in rigorous college studies. The 23 CCSD students are among approximately 16,000 academically talented high school seniors across the nation who will have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,400 National Merit Scholarships worth about $32 million that will be offered next spring.
