CCSD, Charleston Southern announce direct admission partnership

September 2, 2026

Charleston County School District and Charleston Southern University have launched a direct admission partnership that will give qualifying high school seniors a streamlined path to acceptance at CSU.

The program takes effect immediately and will first serve students in CCSD’s Class of 2027. Seniors will qualify for direct admission if they have an unweighted GPA of at least 3.0 through their junior year, are in good standing with their high school and are on track to earn a South Carolina high school diploma.

CSU will waive application fees for students at all CCSD high schools who receive a direct admission offer. Students who accept an offer will be required to submit an in-progress transcript to confirm eligibility.

“This partnership is a powerful example of what’s possible when our community comes together to create more opportunities for students,” CCSD Superintendent Anita Huggins said.

The partnership is designed to simplify the college application process and give qualifying students greater certainty about their college options early in their senior year.
