Celebrate Juneteenth in Laurens with a Weekend of Talent, History, and Community

The City of Laurens invites the community to join in a powerful and joyful weekend of celebration in honor of Juneteenth, the holiday commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. Events will take place across downtown Laurens from Friday, June 13 through Saturday, June 14, 2025, with a variety of ways for residents to participate and celebrate.

Community Talent Show – Friday, June 13

The festivities begin Friday evening with a Community Talent Show at The Capitol Theatre, located in the heart of downtown Laurens. Doors open at 6:30 PM, and the show runs from 7:00 to 10:00 PM. Local performers will take the stage to showcase their talents in a fun, family-friendly kickoff to the weekend.

Tickets are $10 and seating is limited.
Purchase tickets in person with exact cash or check at City Hall (126 E. Public Square).

Community Breakfast – Saturday, June 14 at 9:00 AM

Start Saturday with the Annual Juneteenth Community Breakfast in the Magnolia Room at the Laurens County Museum (116 South Public Square). This event is a time of fellowship and reflection, gathering neighbors and friends to honor the spirit of freedom and community.

Doors open at 8:30 AM; breakfast begins at 9:00 AM.
Advance tickets are $25; at the door tickets are $30.

Festival on the Square – Saturday, June 14 from 12:00–10:00 PM

Downtown Laurens will come alive from noon to 10:00 PM with the Juneteenth Festival on the Square—a full-day celebration packed with food, music, shopping, and family fun.

Explore local food trucks, retail vendors, live performances, a Kids Zone, and more.
Enjoy a welcoming and celebratory space as the community honors the past and looks toward the future.

Historical Parade – Saturday, June 14 at 2:00 PM

At 2:00 PM, the Spectacular Historical Parade will march through downtown Laurens, honoring key figures and events from the journey of African Americans from enslavement to freedom and beyond.

This powerful and visual procession is a highlight of the Juneteenth weekend, celebrating resilience, remembrance, and pride.
