Celebrate, Sing and Save with Family, Friends and Neighbors at Vista Lights Thursday

November 20, 2013

COLUMBIA, S.C. (Nov. 20, 2013) – By all indications (including the weather report) this year’s Vista Lights will set a new standard for kicking off the holidays in Columbia.

The 28th annual Vista Lights celebration starts at 5 p.m. this Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013 with lights and music, eating and drinking, shopping and exploring nearly 50 galleries, eateries and other intriguing Vista establishments.

Even the annual tree-lighting ceremony will be better than ever, with a festive holiday show featuring dancers, singers, actors, special guests and Columbia’s first-ever holiday community carol with everyone joining in to sing “Deck the Halls.” The show starts at 6:30 p.m. with the tree lighting and Community Carol at 7 p.m.

Local shops, galleries and salons will host one-of-a-kind experiences with designers, artists, workshops, holiday films, trunk shows and discounts, and an evening-long “scavenger hunt” for 28 “Elves on Shelves” hiding out in 28 Vista establishments offers partiers a fun way to explore the whole exciting district and a chance to win a $500 Urban Outfitters gift certificate.

Many of the area’s restaurants, shops and nightspots will stay open late serving up seasonal food and drink specials and an eclectic array of entertainment.

The Vista Guild’s free mobile App for iOS and Android devices offers a great way to navigate the Vista’s many holiday settings.

Gervais Street will be closed to traffic between Gadsden and Assembly Streets; Park and Lincoln will be closed from Lady Street to Senate from 6-10 p.m. Park free on streets (except where closed) after 6 p.m.; in the lot behind M Vista, and in city garages on Assembly between Gervais and Lady, on Park behind the Hilton Columbia Center, and at Lincoln and Washington.
