Celebrate the arrival of spring at Navitat Canopy Adventures in N.C. mountains

ASHEVILLE, NC – March 22, 2012 – Spring is here in the North Carolina mountains, and it’s a great time to take to the trees at NAVITAT Canopy Adventures.
The high-adventure zip line canopy tour, located just 20 minutes from downtown Asheville, launches the 2012 season on March 31.
“This is a special time of year in Moody Cove, when the forest starts towake up,” said Abby Burt, Branding & Marketing Leader at NAVITAT.
“Wildflowers and plants are in bloom, and soon the trees will be leafingout in so many shades of green. We’re excited for guests to come outfor some big adventure in this amazingly beautiful location.”
Thrill seekers won’t be disappointed as they navigate the canopy on aseries of artfully-designed sky bridges, rappels, tree-based platformsand 10 exhilarating zip lines – including one that soars more than 200feet above forest floor, and some that reach speeds up to 40 mph.
Guests seeking quiet moments in nature will find those too. Locatedon 240-acres of pristine forestland, the tour site is home to dozens ofnative and rare plant and tree species, abundant wildlife and streams,and offers breathtaking long-range views of the Black Mountains, theCraggy Mountains, Blue Ridge Parkway and Pisgah National Forest.
“A NAVITAT tour combines thrilling adventure, education andcontemplation into what we hope is a truly unforgettable experience forour guests — all set against the amazing backdrop of the Blue RidgeMountains,” said Burt.
Opened in spring 2010, NAVITAT CANOPY ADVENTURES specializes inhigh-adventure zip line canopy tours, with a heavy focus on educatingguests about the natural environment, history and culture of thesurrounding area. The company opened a second location in SouthernCalifornia in summer 2011. NAVITAT has been featured on CNN, Telemundo,“Conan” and in The New York Times, and USA TODAY called the Ashevillecourse “One of 10 Great Ziplines in the U.S.” in 2010.
Tours run daily from March 31 through the end of November. Reservationsare required. Daytime tour price is $89 per adult, and $79 per youthunder age 18. In 2013, NAVITAT will launch the Mountaintop Adventure, a new tour atits Asheville location that will feature a series of zip lines between2,000 and 3,500 feet in length and at heights of more than 400 feetabove the forest floor.
