Celebrate the Holiday Season at Historic Columbia Foundation’s Candlelight Tours

COLUMBIA, SC – December 14, 2012 – Join Historic Columbia Foundation to celebrate the holiday season with Candlelight Tours and Carriage Rides on Thursday, December 20 and Friday, December 21 from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm.

View the decorated halls of all three of HCF’s historic house museums, the Robert Mills House, Hampton-Preston Mansion and Mann-Simons Site, on these candlelit, guided tours. Tours highlight southern holiday traditions from the Antebellum through the Victorian Age and into the 20th century. After your tour, take a carriage ride through the Robert Mills historic district for just $5!

Reservations are not required, and tickets can be purchased at the Gift Shop at Robert Mills, 1616 Blanding Street. The shop will be open for business during the tour hours, offering holiday décor and great gift ideas for everyone on your list.

Holiday House Tours

Tuesday – Sunday, through December 30 | Tues. – Sat. 10 am – 3 pm, Sun. 1 pm – 4 pm

Enjoy stories from holidays past in Columbia and learn how families decorated and entertained during the 19th and early 20th centuries as guides lead you through the beautifully decorated halls of these historic sites. Tours run on the hour Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm and Sundays from 1 pm to 4 pm. Tours do not run on Mondays, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Breakfast with Victorian Santa
Saturday, December 22 | 8 – 11 am

Enjoy a continental breakfast in our cozy Carriage House while listening to seasonal music. After your meal, view the decorated halls of the Hampton-Preston Mansion, see a Victorian Christmas tree, make a holiday craft to take home, and don’t forget to get your picture taken with our Victorian Santa Claus!
