Central Carolina Community Foundation presents the tenth annual Midlands Gives Day on May 2

April 26, 2023

Following another record-breaking year in 2022 with $3.73 million raised, Central Carolina Community Foundation welcomes more than 570 local nonprofits to its tenth annual Midlands Gives Day. The 18-hour online giving challenge takes place on Tuesday, May 2 from 6 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. Gifts of $10 or more will support local nonprofit organizations – an investment for impact! Early giving is now open at MidlandsGives.org.

“We are proud to celebrate 10 years of Midlands Gives,” says JoAnn Turnquist, president and CEO of Central Carolina Community Foundation. “Over the past decade, thousands of everyday philanthropists have come together to invest nearly $20 million in their local communities by supporting hundreds of nonprofits.”

EmmanuWheel, a Lexington County nonprofit that builds wheelchair ramps for mobility-impaired community members who cannot afford the cost, is a testament to the impact that support through Midlands Gives has on the local community. “We make our impact one person or one family at a time,” says Donna Groomes, EmmanuWheel board member. “Midlands Gives has enabled us to reach our goal of building more ramps each year than the previous year.”

Since its inception in 2014, Midlands Gives has raised nearly $19.7 million for hundreds of local nonprofits, helping them amplify their impact, administer public services and improve the quality of life in the Midlands.

Nonprofits are grouped by 10 categories on the Midlands Gives website – animals, arts and culture, community improvement, education and scholarships, environment, faith-based, health, human services, veterans and military and youth development – and can be filtered by Black-led, Black-benefiting or county. Nonprofits from Calhoun, Clarendon, Fairfield, Kershaw, Lee, Lexington, Newberry, Orangeburg, Richland, Saluda and Sumter counties are participating. Early Giving for Midlands Gives is Now Open
Early giving for Midlands Gives Day opened on April 1 at www.MidlandsGives.org. All donations made now through May 3 will count toward leaderboard totals and make nonprofits eligible for various prizes. The platform will re-open for regular year-round giving on May 4.

Increase Your Impact: Create a Fundraising Page
Individuals can support organizations that match their philanthropic passions with a Fundraising Page, an online tool similar to Facebook Giving, where users create a personal giving campaign to raise money for a local nonprofit. After selecting a Midlands Gives nonprofit and setting a fundraising goal, individuals can customize their page with a personal story and banner image. On May 2, Midlands Gives Day, users can raise funds by sharing their Fundraising Page on their social networks and sending the link directly to friends and family View Fundraising Pages and find more information at www.MidlandsGives.org/Fundraising.

How to #InvestForImpact on Midlands Gives Day
The Midlands Gives platform, www.MidlandsGives.org, is hosted through Neon One and can be accessed on a mobile device or desktop. It features a leaderboard, prize tracker and searchable profiles of the more than 570 participating nonprofits. Donors can add multiple organizations to a “shopping cart” with donation amount of their choice. One hundred percent of each contribution, less a 2.2% credit card fee and 2.8% Neon One technology fee, will go directly to the donor’s selected nonprofit(s). Donors have the option to cover these fees at checkout. Last year, 75% of donors covered their checkout fees. The Foundation does not profit from any donations made during Midlands Gives.
