The inaugural Midlands Gives day was a notable success, raising more than $700,000 for 150 local nonprofits through a one-day only online campaign that went viral overnight.
More than 250 local nonprofits will participate in the 2015 event – almost double the total number of organizations that participated in 2014.

As donors, members of the public can make contributions to their nonprofit(s) of choice during Midlands Gives, in amounts as low as just $20. Contributions are amplified through sponsored prize incentives and interactive “power hours” throughout the day on May 5.

“Last year I gave to many nonprofits through Midlands Gives and found it to be a wonderful and easy way to give, both large and small amounts,” said Charlotte Berry, founder of Women in Philanthropy. “You can give to so many charities in a very short period of time. I can’t think of a better way to share the benefits of giving with others.”

Giving online to any participating nonprofit organization during Midlands Gives is safe and easy on the Midlands Gives website. To make a donation tomorrow, simply visit www.MidlandsGives.org, select the nonprofit(s) you would like to support and make a contribution of just $20 or more.

The public can also get involved in the social conversation throughout Midlands Gives day online by following Central Carolina Community Foundation on Twitter, @CCCFtweets, and using the official campaign hashtag, #MidlandsGives.

The IT-oLogy first floor lobby, located at Gervais and Sumter Streets in the heart of downtown Columbia, will serve as the headquarters for Midlands Gives during the 24-hour event, with live giving stations, celebratory events and live television coverage taking place throughout the day. The public is encouraged to join Central Carolina Community Foundation and fans of the 250-plus participating nonprofits at IT-oLogy tomorrow, and during the live news broadcasts in the morning, midday and evening, to support their favorite causes and cheer on their favorite nonprofits with posters and signs. Nonprofit supporters can also rally with fellow givers at Midlands Gives live-giving stations, located at the Columbia Metropolitan Museum of Art and other spots around the Midlands.
