CEO build participants raise walls on 2016 Habitat home

The CEOs of Greenville’s top companies are familiar with building corporations, alliances, and nonprofits from the ground up. On Thursday, 23 of those CEOs will come together to raise the walls on a structure of a different kind – a home for the Delanuez family.
This home is Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County’s fourth CEO build, an annual event that unites companies from across business sectors to fund and construct a home for a Greenville family with low income. This year, the home will be in the Grace Point neighborhood in southern Greenville County. Each CEO‘s company will support the build through both financial sponsorship and volunteer hours.
The chair of the CEO Build is Dick Wilkerson, Michelin Chairman and President (retired), chair of the project since its inception in 2013. This year’s participants include AFL Global; Bon Secours St. Francis Health System; Community Foundation of Greenville; Complete Public Relations; Design Strategies; Ethox Chemicals, LLC; Fluor Corporation; Fresh Water Systems, Inc.; GBS Building Supply; Greater Greenville Association of Realtors; Greenville County Redevelopment Authority; Greenville Health System; Greenville Technical College; Home Builders Association of Greenville; JHM Hotels; Lockheed Martin; SC Telco Federal Credit Union; Southern Fried Green Tomatoes; The Blood Connection; The Marchant Company; United Way of Greenville County; and Wal-Mart Distribution Center.
Thursday’s wall raising is a significant milestone in a family’s journey to home ownership. During the event, sponsors, partners, and volunteers have the opportunity to write encouraging messages to the family on the beams of the wall, which will then become part of the home during construction.
