Chamber staff named Honorary Commander

April 6, 2017

George Ramsey, a member of the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce advocacy team, has been selected as an Honorary Commander by Chief Master Sergeant Todd Cole with the 628th Air Base Wing at the 2017 Joint Base Charleston Honorary Commanders Induction Ceremony.

The Joint Base Charleston Honorary Commanders Program was developed to encourage an exchange of ideas, experiences and friendship between key members of the local civilian community and the Charleston military community.

A top priority of the Chamber is to strengthen the relationship between the community and military, work to support the military and their families and retaining and expanding the military and the federal footprint in our region. Joint Base Charleston’s recognition of a Chamber staff member as an Honorary Commander creates a deeper connection between the base and the Chamber while also providing a greater understanding of the military.
“I am excited and humbled to be selected as an Honorary Commander, “said George Ramsey. ” I look forward to learning more about the mission of Joint Base Charleston, our military leaders who serve and sharing my experiences in this program with our community.”

The program provides a unique opportunity for members of the Charleston area to shadow commanders of wing, group and tenant units at Joint Base Charleston Air Base and Weapons Station.

“It’s an honor and privilege to be part of the Honorary Commanders program,” said Chief Master Sergeant Todd N. Cole, Command Chief Master Sergeant, 628th Air Base Wing, Joint Base Charleston. “It makes me proud to be part of such a wonderful community who supports its military and fosters long-lasting relationships.”

Several chamber staff members have been recognized as Honorary Commanders and leaders in local and regional community affairs, including Mary Graham, Chief Advancement Officer; Sean Tracey, Vice President of Local Area Programs; and Erica Wright, Charleston Young Professionals Director.
