March 12, 2008

CHAPIN, SC – March 6, 2008  — Chapin cornerstone FB Johnston Graphics has officially dedicated its recently renovated 100,000 square foot facility to company Chairman Fred B. Johnston II to commemorate Johnston’s 70th birthday. A dedication ceremony and plaque unveiling were held on March 5.

“I am honored and humbled to be recognized by my colleagues in such a generous and heart warming way,” said Johnston. “My father would be proud to see how successful his decision to move our company to Chapin proved to be. The town of Chapin has provided a home and a top-notch work force — FB Johnston Graphics success’ has been to a significant degree due to the Midlands’ support, and I’m honored to be part of that.”

Johnston built Chapin’s original FB Johnston Graphics facility with his father, Fred B. Johnson Sr. in 1969, and he guided the company to international prominence with hallmark clients like Motorola, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Honda, Black and Decker, Rockwell Automation, Burger King and Club Car.

For more than 40 years, Johnston has helped shape the American graphics industry, and his commitment to community service has had a lasting impact on the Midlands. He has served or currently serves on the Foundation Boards of Midlands Technical College, Lexington Medical Center and Saluda Shoals Park, were he is currently the chairman. Under Johnston’s guidance, FB Johnston Graphics became one of the top specialty graphics companies in the United States and is recognized by both it’s clients and its peers as a standard for innovation, service, dependability and integrity.

“Dedicating this building to Fred B. Johnson II was a way for us to recognize his leadership,” said Allison Henry, who serves as the company’s Director of Marketing and Customer Services. “This facility is a tangible representation of how our company has been able to build on Johnston’s groundbreaking ideas.”

ABOUT FB JOHNSTON GRAPHICS
FB Johnston Graphics provides comprehensive graphics solutions, including design, print fulfillment, installation, inventory management services and on-site management support to original equipment manufacturers and point-of-purchase retailers.

FB Johnston Graphic’s roots stretch back to 1928, when the Weisz Decalcomania Company (predecessor to FB Johnston Graphics) was founded in Chicago by German immigrant Clarence Weisz. Following Weisz’s death in 1941, the ownership passed to several family members, one of whom was a client of Johnston’s father, Fred B. Johnston Sr. In 1948, he acquired the stock of that client and shortly afterward the balance of the ownership.

Company Chairman and CEO Fred Johnston II joined the company in 1963 after graduating from Northwestern University’s School of Business and serving in the Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

The company relocated to South Carolina in 1969, where Johnston helped build Chapin’s original 18,000 square foot facility and started expanding product offerings. By 1997, the company had acquired several other specialty printers, enabling the production of retail signage and diverse product lines under the FB Johnston Group name (changed to FB Johnston Graphics in 2005).
