Charity Ball Board of Greenville announces beneficiaries of the 2023 Rose BallMarch 29, 2023
The Charity Ball Board of Greenville has unanimously selected the beneficiaries for the 2023 Rose Ball. The 27th Rose Ball will be held on Friday, September 22, 2023 at the Poinsett Club.
Following the ball’s 52-year tradition, fifty percent of the proceeds of the Rose Ball will benefit Bon Secours St. Francis Health System. This year, Bon Secours St. Francis will direct these funds toward the St. Francis Cancer Center’s $1.8 million project to bolster its Cancer Program. This project will incorporate surgical subspecialties including urologic oncology, surgical oncology and breast surgery. It will also expand the Bon Secours Hematology and Oncology practice, as well as add an Apheresis processing center to support its Hematological Oncology program.
The remaining 50 percent of the proceeds of the 2023 Rose Ball will be distributed among the following local, non-profit organizations in the areas of Arts, Education, Environment and Health and Human Services:

“We’re excited to support this group of impactful and deserving charitable organizations this year through Rose Ball fundraising,” said Dan Adams, president of the Charity Ball Board executive committee. “This is what the Rose Ball is all about – supporting the needs of our community, and we’re so blessed to have organizations, volunteers and leaders to help drive that initiative year after year.”
The 2023 Rose Ball beneficiaries were selected from a pool of 67 letters of intent and subsequent applications submitted by qualifying non-profits in Greenville County. The Charity Ball Board of Greenville’s Beneficiaries Committee, led by chair Courtney Atkinson and vice-chair Katy Sides, reviewed all letters of intent and applications, conducted site visits, and presented a slate for recommendation to the Charity Ball Board this spring.
“There is a real and growing need in our community for funding in the areas of physical, emotional, educational, environmental and cultural wellbeing,” Atkinson said. “The Beneficiaries Committee continues to be blown away by the work these organizations do in our community, and as always, it’s a challenge to make the final selections. At the same time, it’s encouraging to see the lasting impact of their work, and we’re excited to see what they’ll do with funds raised by the 2023 Rose Ball.”
The Rose Ball is Greenville’s longest-running charitable community event, featuring more than 4,000 roses and providing funding for many Greenville charitable organizations biennially.
