Charleston Conservancy: 300 pounds of produce to good use

November 28, 2022

All year long our parks and community gardens bloom with beautiful flowers and delicious produce, programs and events foster a healthy and happy community, and we continue to connect people through our parks.

We’d like to recognize #GivingTuesday as part of the season of gratitude and giving. This is traditionally a day (or time of year) dedicated to encouraging folks to give back in any way they can.

As we approach #GivingTuesday (November 29th), we wanted to share how your donations and involvement allow us to give back to our community – a beautiful circle of giving!

Last week, as part of Trident United Ways Days of Caring, Morrison Yard and the Conservancy volunteers gathered to participate in our Grow It Forward tradition. We assembled 50 Thanksgiving bags and donated them to The Pink House! Our bags are sponsored by Morrison Yard and Publix Super Markets Charities. We are grateful to grow food and give it to folks in our community who enjoy it!

Each delicious bag included an assortment of produce grown from our 3 community gardens- sweet potatoes, peppers, collard greens, Bibb lettuce, Romaine, sweet turnips, and fresh herbs (total of 300 lbs)! Our community gardeners and Trinity Montessori School donated dry goods to pair with the produce. Each bag also included a beautiful flower bouquet assembled by our mom group from Postpartum Support Charleston and Tupelo Honey Flower Shop & Co. Click here to see a fun, short video of us assembling the bags!
