Charleston County School District names Jason Walters Executive Associate of Information Technology

Charleston County School District (CCSD) announced the appointment of Jason Walters as its new Executive Associate of Information Technology. Walters brings more than 18 years of experience leading technology operations in government and financial services. His background includes cybersecurity, infrastructure management, strategic planning, and large-scale technology projects.

Walters most recently served as Chief Information Officer for Dorchester County, a position he held from 2017 to 2026. His leadership included modernizing critical infrastructure, strengthening cybersecurity protections, implementing enterprise technology solutions, and managing multimillion-dollar investments designed to improve organizational efficiency and service delivery.

One of Walters’ major accomplishments was leading a $17 million rural broadband expansion project in Dorchester County. The initiative brought high-speed internet access to more than 4,000 homes through approximately 325 miles of fiber infrastructure. He also oversaw the replacement of the county’s public safety communications and records systems, working with multiple agencies to ensure a successful transition.

Before joining Dorchester County, Walters served as Director of Computer Operations at South State Bank. There, he managed critical technology systems, budgets, and infrastructure projects.
